New ICG article published in Cellular & Molecular Immunology on the role of glycans in T-cell development and how it affects susceptibility to inflammatory diseases

Exciting news! A groundbreaking study led by our group has revealed the essential role of glycosylation in T-cell development and its influence on disease susceptibility. Glycosylation, a posttranslational modification found in various cells, including T-lymphocytes, regulates their activity and functions. Our researchers identified stage-specific glycome compositions during T-cell development and observed significant defects in key developmental checkpoints when restricting the N-glycosylation profile of thymocytes. These defects led to increased vulnerability to inflammation in the colon and kidney. The study highlights the vital importance of glycans in ensuring normal T-cell development and sheds light on their impact on inflammation susceptibility.
