New ICG article published in Cellular & Molecular Immunology on immune regulatory networks coordinated by glycans and glycan-binding proteins in autoimmunity and infection

Exciting news! Our recent review paper published in Cellular & Molecular Immunology highlights the vital role of glycans in orchestrating immune responses. The immune system’s delicate balance is governed by a complex network of regulatory circuits, and disruptions to this balance can lead to inflammation, autoimmune disorders, and even impact cancer development. Glycans, found on cell surfaces and throughout the body, are emerging as key players in fine-tuning these immune responses. Glycan-binding proteins, such as galectins and siglecs, decode the information stored in glycans and can adjust the magnitude and nature of immune reactions. This research sheds light on the potential for harnessing glycans and glycan-binding proteins as sources of immunomodulatory signals for treating autoimmune conditions and chronic infections.
