Ângela Fernandes, a postdoctoral researcher at Pinho’s Lab, has been awarded the Bolsa Pereira Monteiro de Apoio à Investigação Translacional em Neurologia 2023 by the Sociedade Portuguesa de Neurologia. The grant, valued at €5,000 euros, is a testament to her dedication and expertise in the field of glycosylation and translational research.
Ângela’s project, titled “Unravelling the (T)Regulatory Power of Glycans in Myasthenia Gravis: Mechanism and Potential Clinical Applications,” is set to span 18 months. This ambitious initiative aims to explore the uncharted territory of the N-glycome of Regulatory T cells (Tregs) and its role in defining and modulating cellular functions within the context of autoimmunity.
