Pinho´s Lab was honoured to receive the Best Paper Award 2025 at the Annual Meeting of the Portuguese Society for Immunology (SPI – Sociedade Portuguesa de Imunologia), which took place in Lisbon last April.
This award distinguishes the best publication in 2024 in the field of immunology by a Portugal-based research group. The awarded work, entitled “A unique serum IgG glycosylation signature predicts development of Crohn’s disease and is associated with pathogenic antibodies to mannose glycan“, was published in Nature Immunology (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41590-024-01916-8) and presented at the meeting by Joana Gaifem (one of the co–first authors, together with Cláudia Rodrigues).
For Pinho´s Lab, this distinction highlights our ongoing commitment to unravel how glycosylation drives the immune pathogenesis of IBD as well as the importance of our EU-funded project, GlycanTrigger (https://glycantrigger.eu/).
